Incredible staff that goes the extra mile and a lifetime of benefits from a great workout and life lessons. I can't wait to get back at it.

Our 9 year old granddaughter has been @ the school for nearly 2 years and continues to be taught well and is advancing steadily. They are very thoughtful and alert to each of their students. There is a great ratio of instructors to students. They communicate well with the parents about the students’ skill set & offer opportunities for them to take on new things. They have asked Avery to be on the Demo team so, if she feels she’s up to it, is another recognition on their behalf to srudents

Our teenage son is thriving at KI and is very motivated to continue progressing towards black belt. We are so happy that he's found a place where he is encouraged to reach his full potential. We are seeing benefits academically, socially, and emotionally. We are extremely grateful for the positive impact this experience is having on him.

Our kids have trained at the dojo for almost 7 years. They love their “karate family,” and Karate International has been a place where they can go and see friends and their instructors and feel like everyone is glad to see them and that they are cared about. Beyond the physical activity benefits, the social benefits for our kids is equally as important. My husband started training their after our daughters started. We also hosted our youngest’s birthday party there this weekend, and it was one of the best parties she’s had. Mr. Tsikos and Mr. Rowe handled everything (including all decorations, goodie bags, games, and clean up!), and the kids had a terrific time. It was the perfect party set up for a group of very active boys and girls.

This is a great place to bring your kids. They are so inclusive and accommodating, that it makes you trust your kids arein great hands. My son had his first class, was a hyperactive little mess, but you’d never have known that with how well the instructors did with him. He has a new love, and it is helping us with his ability to focus and control his impulses. This is excellent for anyone who needs help with providing structure and discipline.

Developing Self Control with Karate

Many of the worst mistakes we make are due to a lack of self control. Control of the mind gives us a power many do not posses. Developing patience, emotional regulation, and discipline all combine to equal the quality of self control.

Karate International of West Raleigh teaches self control in a variety of ways with the top 3 being:

  • physical control of the body through karate techniques and exercise
  • controlling emotions when students don’t progress at the rate they think they should
  • for the kids, sitting still and listening to instruction

An instrumental element of self control is choosing how to look at the world around you. Here is one of our weekly messages we teach students to develop self control using a positive mindset.

“DISCOVER THE GOOD”

Two people were walking down a road after a rainshower. One of them looked down and saw a mud puddle. The other looked up and saw a beautiful rainbow.

  Questions:

1: Which person saw the right thing?

2:Is it important to see the mud puddle too?

We believe in teaching students how to better control their lives for the better! Developing positive mindsets and self control is a small fraction of what we teach. Thanks for reading and we hope to meet you soon!
