Developing Self Control with Karate
Many of the worst mistakes we make are due to a lack of self control. Control of the mind gives us a power many do not posses. Developing patience, emotional regulation, and discipline all combine to equal the quality of self control.
Karate International of West Raleigh teaches self control in a variety of ways with the top 3 being:
- physical control of the body through karate techniques and exercise
- controlling emotions when students don’t progress at the rate they think they should
- for the kids, sitting still and listening to instruction
An instrumental element of self control is choosing how to look at the world around you. Here is one of our weekly messages we teach students to develop self control using a positive mindset.
“DISCOVER THE GOOD”
Two people were walking down a road after a rainshower. One of them looked down and saw a mud puddle. The other looked up and saw a beautiful rainbow.
1: Which person saw the right thing?
2:Is it important to see the mud puddle too?
We believe in teaching students how to better control their lives for the better! Developing positive mindsets and self control is a small fraction of what we teach. Thanks for reading and we hope to meet you soon!
